The 'Rocky Horror' Trailer Will Make You Nostalgic

by Ashani Jodha

Fox's reimagining of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will effectively bring to the cultural forefront one of the biggest cult classics of all time, but that's not the only thing it'll be pushing back into the spotlight: The return of RHPS will also bring us a reunion with one of the film's biggest breakout stars: Tim Curry. In the two-hour production, which is set to air this October, Curry returns as eclectic as ever in the role of "The Criminologist" — and trust me when I say it's gonna make fans so nostalgic for the original. As he appears looking quite dapper in a suit, Curry's cameo in the newest trailer for Rocky Horror Picture Show is basically a must-see.

In honor of the film's 40th anniversary, Curry's role in the remake — a role which was originally held by Charles Gray — will be to serve as narrator of Janet and Brad's story. They are, of course, the couple who comes across the bizarre home of scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Curry's original role, now passed down to the hilarious Laverne Cox). With the help of his servants, Riff Raff and Magenta, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, uses his sexually ambiguous and flirtatious wiles to hold an annual Transylvanian science convention and reveal the birth of "Rocky Horror," an attractive male counterpart created solely to fulfill Frank's sexual hunger.

Curry's return to the screen is his first live-action appearance after he suffered a stroke in 2012 that left him paralyzed. Though initially a theatrical flop, according to Decider, this horror movie and sci-fi spoof film based on a 1973 play still possesses the longest theatrical distribution over any other film in history, due to its cult following and influential themes. It's no accident that the film's directive towards imagination, vulnerability and equality amongst those of all sexual orientations still resonates to this day.

So, travel through a time warp by watching Curry's cameo below. Can you say antici...pation?!
