Fort Myers Nightclub Shooting Leaves Several Hurt

Just after midnight on Monday morning, a shooting occurred in a Fort Myers, Florida, nightclub parking lot. A gunman opened fire outside of Club Blu, leaving at least two dead and over a dozen more injured. Police officers on the scene told the press that, more specifically, between 14 and 16 had been injured, but that number is subject to change as more facts are released.

According to local newspaper The News-Press, two other crime scenes may be related to the incident: one at 2550 Parkway Street and one at Ortiz Avenue between Luckett Road and Ballard Road. In the same night, shots were reportedly fired at a house and at a car at the Parkway Street location. The three scenes, in total, are being investigated. Captain Jim Mulligan of the Fort Myers Police Department told Fort Myers' local WINK news station, a CBS affiliate, that three people are currently in custody.

A woman named Tatianna Nouhaioi told ABC News that she had witnessed the shooting and that everything was "under control" beforehand. She stressed the fact that some of the victims were just children — barely teenagers.

It was a young teen event. There were kids. The kid I was holding in my lap, he was 14 years old that got shot. And then there was a little girl who also got shot and she was 13. One of the security guard's daughter got shot, so I mean there was kids 13, 14, 15, 16. It was a young kids event.

Syreeta Gary, a mother whose daughter escaped the situation, spoke with Fox 4 News' Malcolm Johnson. She said her daughter ducked between cars to avoid bullets. Her friend, however, was shot in the leg.

They were running for safety to Center Apartments and she wasn't so lucky as my daughter. She got hit in the leg and luckily, it's just her leg. But I think it's sad that they have to run for cover.

According to a tweet, a security guard's daughter was also shot. Johnson tweeted a video of the current scene in the club's parking lot. Officers are continuing to investigate the three separate crime scenes.

As more details emerge, authorities will be better able to uncover the shooter(s)' motives, as well as other questions surrounding the incident.
