Kendall Jenner Cut Her Hair Off For 'Vogue'

by Eliza Florendo

Baby Kenny is living her modeling dreams: Kendall Jenner is the cover of September Vogue, making this the first time she's graced the cover of American Vogue. Of course, she's been the star of other ones, like China, Brazil, and Japan, but this is a whole new level for the 20-year-old supermodel. Like her sister Kim Kardashian and her hubby Kanye West, Jenner is the second of the Kardashian Klan to cover Vogue.

It's been a long journey for Kenny, who, before she got her big break, felt that she was treated unfairly because of her family name, saying people laughed at her behind her back, according to NY Daily News. But with hard work and persistence, she made her way through the industry, thanking designers Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld for supporting her throughout the way. Eventually, she landed an Estée Lauder contract, and her modeling gigs pretty much exploded.

Now, she's on the cover of Vogue. "She had her eyes focused on exactly what she wanted to do. And she made it happen,” said her sister, Kim Kardashian. On her website, Jenner writes that "The cover of Vogue has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I'm so honored and excited about this huge career milestone." And boy, is it a big one. Though we often see Jenner in spreads inside Vogue, we've never seen her on the cover of American Vogue. And, for the September issue, too! That's no small feat.

Pretty dope cover, right? I'm absolutely in love with the pieces she's wearing, too. Not surprising, since it was styled by Tonne Goodman and makeup was done by Isamaya Ffrench. Her gorgeous locks were done by Garren — but here's the catch — she cut her hair on set for the shoot!

How many supermodels cut their own hair on the fly on a shoot? I don't think there's too many. In her app, she wrote, "They asked me to cut my hair and, of course, I agreed!" And that's exactly what makes Jenner so lovable among her fans: she's down to earth and seems to be up for anything.

Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Jenner was of course in good hands.

And, she had a little surprise party waiting for her.

Adorable, right? Jenner also thanked everyone who's supported her on her website. "Thank you to everyone who was a part of this—including my family and friends for always supporting me, and, of course, my fans who have been with me through everything. I couldn't have done it without your support. I love you all!❤️."

I can only imagine how much fun this was to shoot if they were making spontaneous decisions like cutting her hair on set! To check out the rest of the behind the scenes footage, head to her website or app!

Congrats on this, Kenny. It's well deserved.
