This Tongue Caused A Lawsuit

by Lia Beck

The tongue that slobbered all over pop culture is back in the news again and this time it's suffering legal consequences. Miley Cyrus is being sued by a construction worker because of her tongue. Well, she's not being sued herself, but she and her tongue are very much involved in the case. Now before I explain to you what exactly that means, I thought it be fun to give you three possible options and see if you can figure it out for yourself. I had to go through not understanding what the hell this could mean when I first heard the report and my initial guess was way off. Let's see if you can do any better.

Who's suing?

Option #1

A construction worker who was injured when putting together a large tongue-shaped set for Cyrus' Bangerz tour.

Option #2

A construction worker who poked his tongue out Cyrus-style and sprained the portion of that attaches to his mouth.

Option #3

A construction worker who was working at Cyrus' Bangerz tour and was pushed by paparazzi angling to get a shot of Cyrus' famous tongue.

If you chose option one, you are correct! (It wasn't that hard, was it?) The construction worker, Charles Nicholas Sarris, is suing ShowFx Inc., the company that made Cyrus' Bangerz tour sets, because of injuries he suffered while constructing a giant tongue that Cyrus slides down during her performance.

According to TMZ, Sarris claims that "after the equipment and tools provided to him failed," he fell and was "badly injured." Sarris is requesting "unspecified damages." Miley Cyrus herself is not responsible — other than the fact that her tongue inspired A SET WITH A TONGUE SLIDING BOARD — so will not be held financially accountable.

Before he sued, I hope Sarris thought long and hard about whether he is comfortable being "the guy that sued Miley Cyrus' tongue" at every work function, wedding, and Thanksgiving gathering for the rest of his life.
