Dascha Polanco Rocked Jeans At The 2016 VMAs

by Melanie Richtman

Unlike other "fancier" award ceremonies, the MTV Video Music Awards are a place where celebs can arguably feel free to really have fun with their sartorial choices. So with that in mind, Orange Is The New Black star Dascha Polanco's 2016 VMAs outfit incorporated hair jewels, a pair of embroidered jeans that were very 2001, and a blue silk top, because why not take some risks?

Polanco paired her embroidered denim with a one-shoulder blue silk top that featured a train, so it almost-kind-of looked like she was wearing a dress over jeans. Yep, the early 2000s are back, guys. It honestly feels like she could've worn this outfit 13 years ago, and it would've been quite the hit. This is definitely a total throwback ensemble.

Dove Hair pro Cynthia Alvarez helped Polanco style her mane to perfection, opting to decorate her long, wavy locks with a few subtle cuffed hair jewels to complement the look. Using mousse, hairspray, and a few carefully placed bobby pins, according to a press release, they were able to achieve a pretty side-swept hairstyle for the actor.

While the Twitterverse seems to be a little confused by Polanco's 2016 VMAs outfit choice, I really admire her decision to try something different and think outside the box.

The early 2000s are definitely making a comeback.

She looked so pretty.

Plus, jeans are probably way more comfortable than a gown, right? I totally get you, Dascha.
