Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, a commuter train crashed into the Hoboken station in New Jersey. Updates to the Hoboken train crash give insight into how many passengers were possibly injured and provide details as to what could have gone wrong with the train.

New Jersey's emergency management system has indicated that more than 100 people were injured and multiple people are trapped under the derailed train, ABC News reported. Those that suffered injuries were reportedly in the first car or were hit by debris from the broken train and station after exiting their train car, ABC News reported. At least one person has reportedly been confirmed dead, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. However, NBC News later reported that three have been confirmed dead.

FDNY sent its medical emergency team to the scene at the Hoboken train station, with an ambulance that could reportedly hold up to 30 people. Passengers on the second train car and subsequent cars further back were reportedly able to exit their train cars after the crash, according to ABC News.

Notify NYC reported on Twitter that the train experienced a "derailment" at the Hoboken station in New Jersey. After the crash, all PATH train services departing from and arriving to the Hoboken station have been suspended until further notice.

The train station at Hoboken has been severely damaged. A support beam within the station was taken out and the roof of the station collapsed after the train crashed, according to WABC. One passenger, Bhagyesh Shah, told NBC News what the experience was like during and immediately after the crash: "It was for a couple seconds, but it felt like an eternity. I saw a woman pinned under the concrete. A lot of people were bleeding, one guy was crying." Another passenger told NBC there was blood all over passengers as they exited the train cars. The roof of the first train car also reportedly collapsed during the crash, according to NBC News.

NJ Transit has released an official statement on the incident:

There are an estimated 308,523 passengers per weekday who use New Jersey Transit trains during their commutes. At the Hoboken terminal alone, there are an average of 15,101 passengers who board that station every weekday, according to New Jersey Transit data.
