7 Nasty Woman Songs To Prepare For The Election

by Melissa Cruz

Who knew that "such a nasty woman" would be the feminist power ballad that we needed for this election? But here we are, just a few weeks short of the big day, and Donald Trump gleefully hands out this insult-turned-inspiration to get us through to Nov. 8. If you've ever had to deal with a man calling you a "nasty woman" in the office or on the street (particularly if that man was a short-fingered, toupee-wearing orange buffoon), then these nasty woman songs are for you.

Since interrupting Hillary Clinton to call her "such a nasty woman" during the final presidential debate, Trump's insult has taken off — the slogan can now be found on T-shirt, mugs, and has even reclaimed the red, trucker style hat from the Trump campaign. But perhaps there's nothing better than blasting a nasty woman song through your earbuds — there are plenty of classics to choose from, and the viral phrase has even inspired a new tune all its own.

So when you're having a bad day, and don't know how many more times you can have the election mansplained to you by a dude who's just called you some office-appropriate version of "nasty," check out these songs to empower you:

1. "Nasty" By Janet Jackson

This was the song that immediately jumped into people's minds right after Trump made the "nasty woman" comment. According to Spotify, streams of the song were up by 250 percent after the debate.

2. "Nasty" By PARRI$

Clinton can surely relate to the song's lyrics by being the flyest thing in the election: "I'm so, so nasty / I'm so, so nasty / Like whoa, I am the flyest t'ing in town."

3. "Nasty Girl" By Destiny's Child

This collection wouldn't be complete without a Destiny's Child song. While the lyrics berate a girl for being nasty, those same lines can apply to Trump. Destiny's Child's word of advice for the Republican nominee: "Don't walk out your house without your clothes on." Please.

4. "Bad Hombres, Nasty Women" By "Weird Al" Yankovic

Weird Al has again graced us with his presence and written a song about the last presidential debate, but leaves most of it to some pretty great auto-tuning directly from the candidates.

5. "Nasty Woman vs. Bad Hombre" By Jonathan "Song A Day" Mann

This song offers a more indie vibe to the debate, and would probably fit along perfectly with your Afternoon Acoustic playlist on Spotify.

6. "Nasty" By Brooke Candy

This one fits with the Republican nominee pretty well too: "N-A-S-T-Y, you ain’t got no alibi."

7. "You're So Nasty" By La Toya Jackson

And there's no better way to round out this list than with a song by another Jackson. Michael Jackson would be proud.

So if these next few weeks start to get you down, stave off the Election Day blues by listening to one of these nasty woman songs.
