Sure, we’ve already been privy to some…. shall we say, interesting information about the types of things people search for when it comes to porn in real time — but let’s not forget about the big picture. And hey, thanks to some new data from Pornhub, we’ve got some new info!
Pornhub teamed up with Digg to find out what the top five porn search terms are in 24 major cities across the U.S. ranging from St. Louis, MO to Washington, D.C. The top three most frequently occurring search terms? “Massage,” “ebony,” and “lesbian.” With a total of 1,885, 1,340, and 1,045 searches respectively, these three terms made the top five lists in over half of the cities analyzed. “Massage” took the top honor, appearing in a whopping 21 out of 24 states’ lists — something which surprised even Pornhub itself. Said Corey Price, Pornhub’s Vice President, to the Huffington Post, “We weren’t expecting that to be such a popular term across so many of these major cities.” Who knew?
It’s worth noting that the data is based solely on search terms — which in turn begs the following question: Does the fact that clicks on links and categories from Pornhub’s homepage weren’t included skew the results at all? Not much, apparently; Price noted, “We’ve done in-depth usability tests and concluded that users either browse by homepage, categories, or by search results. When we look at the most popular categories in each city, they are incredibly close, if not identical to the top searches.”
Pornhub also determined the most popular porn star in each city, with Lisa Ann winning the top spot in 18 cities. She’s been in the business for over 20 years, which Price thinks is likely the reason for her popularity; she’s managed to transition from category to category with relative ease over the years, and at 41, she now fits the MILF profile — another extremely popular search term. She’s starting to get a little competition from some newer stars, though, with Belle Knox (AKA the Duke porn star) and former Teen Mom Farrah Abraham earning nods in a few cities. Alina Lee also won a few cities — namely San Francisco and Honolulu, both of which have large populations of people of Asian descent.
I assume that "smoking" means "smoking hot," although I suppose I could be wrong. Thoughts?
