CBS Drops Truth Bomb About Chelsea

by Alicia Lutes

Isn't it funny how things most people would chalk up to coincidence, the media sometimes takes and turns into a story of "cryptic messages" and potential hypotheticals so they have something to talk about? Today's victim of such speculative shenanigans — seemingly de rigeur for modern news reporting at this point — is Chelsea Handler, who, with a single, silly tweet raised suspicions about a move to CBS that the eyeballs over at, well, the eyeball-fronted network have deemed untrue.

The Hollywood Reporter called the Instagram photo of a woman and her dog — where a piece of paper happens to have the CBS logo on it — a "cryptic message" when it was just meant to be a funny picture of Handler and her stupid-adorable dog Chunk.

"There are no discussions with Chelsea Handler regarding the network’s 12:30 late night broadcast," a CBS spokesperson said in a statement. "Her meeting with CBS yesterday was a general meeting with our syndication group."

Speculating on whether or not Handler might take the 12:30 a.m. slot currently inhabited by one of our favorite endearing funnyhumans, Craig Ferguson — particularly when he hasn't even announced that he's leaving or wants to leave — is just silly. Whoever ends up not working with Handler are clearly the only losers in this scenario — and a lot of people want to — so really the only things we need to take away from this are: 1.) sometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence, and 2.) Handler's dog is adorable.
