Rihanna, Blake Lively, Lupita Nyong'o, and More Top the Best-Dressed List at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards

Fashion may be fickle, but when it comes to designer-focused red carpet events and awards shows, one thing will never change: Designers' celebrity muses are sure to look amazing. And at the 2014 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards, the rule of thumb held true once again, with stars like Blake Lively, Rihanna, and Lupita Nyong'o showing up on the arms of their designer friends looking nothing less than flawless. So flawless, in fact, that it was nearly impossible to decide who was the best-dressed lady of the evening. Which is exactly why you should click right through and decide for yourself.

Rihanna

The racy singer was undoubtedly the star of the evening — and not just because she took home the Fashion Icon Award. In fact, her big achievement was nearly outshone by her amazing (and quite risqué) Adam Selman number, whose sheer, sparkly fabric revealed lots of skin and plenty of Old Hollywood glamour.

Lupita Nyong'o

Reason No. 5329 I love Nyong’o: You never know what she’ll show up in on the red carpet. And while I’m sure few were expecting her to hit the awards show in a cowl-neck, striped, two-piece ensemble from Suno — with yet another fabulous beauty look, to boot — that didn’t make her outfit any less stunning.

Blake Liely

The Gossip Girl turned into a sexy Golden Girl the second she stepped onto the red carpet in her sequined Michael Kors mini dress, which got an extra kick of style thanks to its scalloped hemline and her ’60s-style hair and makeup.

Olivia Wilde

The new mom is wasting no time ruling the red carpet once again, which she did effortlessly in her one-shouldered, full-fringe Mollie Parnis gown.

Marion Cotillard

The French fashionista looked as fierce and chic as always in her Christian Dior LWD, whose major embellishments were the perfect daring addition to complement her sugar-sweet Dior pumps.

Emmy Rossum

I’m positively green with envy over how gorgeous the Shameless star looks in her draped silk-chiffon J. Mendel gown — a dress with just the right amount of sex appeal, thanks to its subtle side cutouts and sheer neckline.

Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen

The fact that these outfits were exactly what we’ve come to expect from the actress-turned-designer duo takes nothing away from how dark, daring, and delightfully fashionable the twins look in their draped gowns from The Row.

Solange Knowles

What elevator drama? In this seductive, gold foil, and cleavage-baring Calvin Klein Collection number, Knowles made sure her Jay-Z scandal was the last thing on anyone’s mind.

Chrissy Teigen

From the subtly patterned red mini dress to the bold and perfectly tailored blazer, Teigen absolutely nailed the work-meets-play look in her Rachel Roy ensemble.

Olivia Palermo

Never one to disappoint in the style department, Palermo looked insanely chic in her fur and fringe Ann Taylor number, which she accessorized with gold cuffs, a collar necklace, and ultra-femme heels.

Jaime King

King mastered casually fabulous summer style in her all-white Calvin Klein Collection gown, which she kept on the minimalist side with few accessories and simple strappy sandals.

Coco Rocha

The supermodel was all about the drama at this year’s CFDA awards, which she definitely proved in her mermaid-tail, off-the shoulder Christian Siriano number and playfully polished hat.

Alessandra Ambrosio

The model could practically wear a paper sack and still look sexy, so the fact that she showed up in a red-hot, strapless gown from Nonoo makes her look that much more amazing.

Sophia Bush

Flaunting her edgy new haircut, Bush went for a little dark glamour in her laser-cut and sheer-skirt Marchesa dress, which she paired with a bold burgundy lip and major statement necklace.

Whitney Port

It’s not often that The Hills star makes a red-carpet appearance, but seeing her in this patterned Dennis Basso number makes me wish she’d do it a lot more often.

Beth Behrs

From the emerald hue to the high-low hem, Behrs couldn’t have looked more ladylike and glowing in her Alice + Olivia ensemble.
