He's Judging Miss USA?

by Christine DiStasio

Well, we're in it. The 2014 Miss USA pageant kicked off with a ridiculous opening at the Baton Rouge River Center and, well, I couldn't help but get into it. I mean, how could you not be into a glitzy Mardi Gras theme complete with masks for each contestant? I was even into E!'s Giuliana Rancic and anchor Thomas Roberts' manic enthusiasm — those two really know how to win over a room. But, it's the judging table that's got me — and apparently all of Twitter — scratching their heads.

So who are the lucky judges this year? Appropriately, there's a former Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe in the ranks — current CBS Sports host and reporter Allie LaForce and telemundo star Barbara Palacios, respectively. Other judges include Hollywood faces Lance Bass, Rumer Willis, Ian Ziering, and Melissa Peterman; Biggest Loser trainer Dolvett Quince; and wrestler-turned-actor Randy Couture. Not a bad line-up, considering there's a female wrestler in the Top 20 contestants. But who's got us all thrown off — former Utah Jazz NBA player, Karl Malone.

Malone — who's possibly only qualified to judge because he's a Louisiana native — allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old girl while he was a sophomore in college. And, well, Twitter is not happy about it.
