Benedict Cumberbatch Is Getting A Waxy Clone

by Alanna Bennett

He's quietly suggesting himself for the Oscars race with the release of the first trailer for The Imitation Game — the movie comes out in November from the Weinstein Company, come on — but it seems apparent that the most exciting Benedict Cumberbatch development of the day is that Cumberbatch is getting a Madame Tussauds wax figure. As the Sherlock star said while getting his measurements taken, "finally, I can photobomb myself."

Cumberbatch is likely making reference to his adorable, viral photobomb of U2 on the 2014 Oscars red carpet. If we're lucky, he'll reprise the moment once his wax figure is complete — can you imagine the possibilities of multiple Cumberbatches? If the Internet could Orphan Black anyone other than Tatiana Maslany, it would probably be Benedict Cumberbatch. The crew over at Madame Tussauds best prepare for an onslaught once that figure's made public.

The Imitation Game star had seemingly endless cute, self-deprecating things to say about his impending likeness:

What a weird and wonderful compliment to be included in the ranks of talent already committed to wax. I've been accused of being wooden in my work but never waxy. [...] It's an extraordinary experience. Also my agents will be thrilled, they've wanted a clone of me for some time.

Haven't we all? Maybe one day we can live in a world where every day with Benedict Cumberbatch is like Beyonce at the Superbowl.
