Smart Shoes Will Ensure You Never Get Lost Again!

by Erin Mayer

I've said it before, I'll say it again: I don't love wearable tech. But what if you owned a garment that helped you never get lost again? Now that's something I could be on board with, after the countless times I've almost walked into various objects on the street while trying to read Google Maps on my phone (sorry, parents). Enter Lechal smart shoes, a pair of Bluetooth-enabled kicks that integrates with Google Maps to steer you in the right direction.

Produced by India-based startup Ducere Technologies Pvt., the Lechal syncs up with an app connected to Google Maps. The shoes will vibrate in either the left or right foot to indicate when and which direction to turn. Sounds like a godsend for the directionally challenged (like myself).

The shoes are a natural extension of the human body,” Krispian Lawrence, 30, co-founder and chief executive officer of Ducere Technologies told the Wall Street Journal, "You will leave your house without your watch or wristband, but you will never leave your house without your shoes.” Psh, challenge accepted, Krispian Lawrence. Now, when will they make stilettos that sync with Google Maps? Christian Louboutin, are you listening?

As of now the options of Lechal are pretty limited. The shoes will be available come September in either red and black sneaker styles for between $100 and $150. They won't exactly go with every going-out ensemble in your closet, but they will help you get to the bar on time.
