The Best Moments From Robyn's "Monument" Video

by Caroline Pate

Dance pop queen Robyn finally has a new video, and although it doesn't feature much of the dancing that she's famous for, it will still blow you away. The video is for Robyn's song "Monument," from the Swedish pop artist's mini album and collaboration with Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp. The two prove a great match — although the song is nothing like Robyn's hard-hitting singles, it's a longer, dreamier piece that's made even better by the video.

The music video itself is practically a work of art. The director, Max Vitali, said the video is about "exploring the space around you and finding your own space in it all." The video features Robyn and four other random people waking up on a huge disc of light in space and beginning to explore the space around them. The nearly seven-minute video features psychedelic, science-fiction-esque imagery, and as always, some great looks from Robyn.

It's gorgeous, but it's a lot to take in. But don't worry, children... you will be taken by the hand and lead through the glorious, incomprehensible world that has been created. In other words, here are some of the best moments from the video, so watch along and take note:

Mullet Realness

That's right, that's pop star Robyn sporting an actual mullet. And somehow... I don't hate it. You work that mullet, girl.

Space Face

WHOA WHAT IS HAPPENING. Everyone was just waking up and then lines of light just start emerging from Robyn's face. Is she a robot? A being of light? Is she having some weird issues with her complexion? I have no idea, just go with it.

This Freaking Thing

There's some sort of pink, eight-sided die Robyn looks at and then all of a sudden it goes here. This... is insane. Is it a palace? An intergalactic highway? I have no idea, all I know is that I want to go to there.

Saxophone Solo in Space

This is where all saxophone solos should be listened to. Hanging upside down from a giant space disc.

DANCING

Is it equal to Robyn's famous "Call Your Girlfriend" dance? Not even close. But these dudes get this sort of interpretive dance thing going, and man is it... weird.

Is that thing not alarming to you guys? No? Are you not gonna move? Just gonna sit and stare up at it? Okay, just thought I should let you guys know.
