Must-See Sneak Peek at Michael J. Fox's New Show

by Lindsay Mannering

It takes a special person to turn Parkinson's disease into a punchline, and Michael J. Fox is just the guy for the job. In a new promo for his sitcom airing this fall on NBC, the venerable actor discusses how he prefers to handle things with humor, and it shows. Clips for The Michael J. Fox Show are really, truly, funny. If you can't laugh at a disabled man spooning out eggs to his impatient family, what can you laugh at?

The Michael J. Fox Show centers around Mike as he returns to his job as a news anchor after time off to deal with Parkinson's. He's surrounded by his quick-witted wife played by Betsy Brandt (a.k.a. Marie on Breaking Bad) and Wendell Pierce from The Wire as the determined NBC exec that wants Mike to reclaim is spot on the 5 o'clock news.

The best part about the show is that it seems to follow 30 Rock's lead and isn't hesitating to poke fun at its network. NBC might be fifth in the network ratings (mmhmm, fifth — Telemundo is in fourth) but they're first when it comes to self-deprecating humor. The show's also written and produced by Sam Laybourne, the same genius who brought us the misunderstood and fatally titled, Cougar Town.

The show premieres with back-to-back episodes on Thursday, September 26 at 9 p.m. We'll be watching.
