White Liner and Top-Knots are In at Nanette Lapore

by Erin Mayer

If there's one thing we know about spring 2015, it's this — low-key makeup will be hot. Or should I say white hot, like the eyeliner used on models at Nanette Lepore's S/S 2015 runway presentation. I know what I'm adding to my makeup wish list once the weather gets warm again...

For her latest collection, Lepore was inspired by California and French beaches in the 1960s. She utilized a sunny color palette of yellows, pinks, blues, blacks, and whites for a stunning array of dresses, separates, and swimsuits. The nonchalant, summer vacation vibe of the clothing was echoed by the white eyeliner, coral lips, and dewy cheeks that makeup artist Grace Lee of Maybelline chose to accent the collection.

To get the look, Lee applied foundation and concealer to the models' skin wherever needed and then lined the top and bottom lids (for added drama) with Maybelline "Too Cool" Colour Tattoo Gel shadow. She enhanced the eyebrows with Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara and then added coats of both "Rocket" and "Pumped Up" mascara for a volumizing and lengthening affect on the lashes.

For the coral lips, Lee blocked out the natural lip color with concealer before applying an almost neon shade of salmon. The final touch? A few swipes of Baby Lips Lip Balm in "Quenched" used as a highlighter to give the appearance of a dewy sheen of sweat! Apparently your post-Cross Fit glow is a high-fashion trend this season.

For the hair, the lead stylist for Culter/Redken created a top knot that Miley herself would die over. "It was kind of like effortless and easy. I felt like the normal girl could actually do it and I feel that it's a look you can go from morning to night time in." Um, exactly. That's why top knots are the best.

The resulting style does indeed look effortless and like one could actually replicate it at home. To get the same volume as the top-knot on the Lepore runway, be sure to use your hands to ruffle up the strands of hair, pulling a few pieces out as you go, and apply product (Redken's Fashion Works 12 and Wind Blown 05, specifically) for additional body.
