'Mad Men' Star to Join 'Mindy Project'

by Lindsay Mannering

It's starting to feel like we were the only ones not invited to guest star on Mindy Kaling's show. After throngs of talented actors have confirmed roles on her Fox sitcom, it's time to add yet another name to the ever-growing list: Mad Men star Ben Feldman is joining The Mindy Project. He currently plays Michael Ginsberg on the AMC drama, a role which earned him an Emmy nomination in 2012 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

The Mindy Project executive producer Jack Burditt explained that Feldman's character will be somewhat of a love interest for Mindy.

He’s an arts and culture writer and a bit of a snob — he kind of looks down on Mindy’s taste. There’s an attraction there, but also a divide between them. She’ll say things, and she has no idea what he’s talking about. [We'll see] how these two people who are very different can get along.

Sounds like your classic meet-cute to us, but whatever. A classic rom-com trope is fine when Kaling and Feldman are involved. We kind of like the idea of them together, but that may be just because we're picturing Feldman as Ginsberg and find him inextricably adorable in late '60s fashions.

Feldman has been cast for a couple of episodes, so keep an eye out for his character when the series returns Wednesday, Sept. 18.
