Tyga Hates Drake, But I've Got Real Love For Him

by Maitri Suhas

Aubrey Drake Graham's list of haters has grown. In an interview in the most recent issue of Vibe that was released on Wednesday, rapper Tyga counted himself among the Drake detractors of the rap world, and while he was at it, expressed his hate for Nicki Minaj, too. "I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music, you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people." I MEAN, at least Tyga conceded that Drake's got talent, but I did a little gasp at the fact that he called the Nothing Was the Same rapper fake. Drake seems real as hell.

But what do I know? Drake's certainly racked up a number of harsh enemies (and possibly frenemies). Among them: Jay Z, who called him soft as a lacrosse team and Kendrick Lamar, who also called him fake as well as a "sensitive rapper tucked into his pajama clothes." Guys, Drake is sad enough already. Obviously the personal details of all this ground beef escape me, but it seems like a lot of rappers truly despise Drake because of his supposed 'softness.' I won't try to pretend I understand the complexity of the hip-hop world, but there's a pretty great post over at Complex that details some of the more arbitrary reasons that Drake gets looked down on. A few: his sensitivity, of course; his background as a teen actor as the one, the only Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi; and, apparently, his sweaters (more specifically, his style). As I said, these seem downright silly to me, and actually are all reasons that I love to LOVE Drake.

However real or fake Drake may be, I still got love for him. He seems real enough to me. He unwittingly washed the world in YOLO, and he's still embodying the lifestyle by dropping thousands on sneakers. He really, really loves to smile that big, toothy crinkly smile. He unabashedly loves the ladies. And for god's sake, the man got a tattoo of the praying hands emoji. If that ain't real, I don't know what's what anymore.
