The Year in Jennifer Lawrence, Because 2014 Brought Her More than a Guinness World Record

As 2014 comes to a close, a look back proves it was a major year for Jennifer Lawrence. From winning a Golden Globe to premiering Mockingjay, she was everywhere this year. That's probably why she won the title of the most Googled person in 2014 — even beating Kim Kardashian for the top spot.

Unfortunately, there were some low points this year too, including that huge leak of celebrities' nude photos. But despite that major invasion of privacy, she still came out on top and stood up for herself. Proving how awesome she is, Lawrence didn't let that get her down and gave a great response. She said, "I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for." Yes! That should go on the ever-growing list of her best quotes.

Let's take a trip down memory lane and recap the year according to J. Law.

Winning a Golden Globe

Unsurprisingly, Jennifer Lawrence won “Best Supporting Actress” at this year’s Golden Globes for her role in American Hustle.

Her Dress Turned Into a Meme

Even though she was an award winner, J. Law’s dress at the Golden Globes received a ton of parodies. Most notably? Teen Wolf star Colton Haynes’ spoof was pretty popular.

Participating in Ellen's Selfie

Jennifer Lawrence didn’t take home an Oscar this year, but she’s still a winner. That’s because she was part of Ellen DeGeneres’ epic selfie!

Getting a Shoutout From Drake

A lot of actresses receive trophies (J. Law included), but not all of them get the esteemed honor of being referenced in a Drake song. In “Draft Day,” Drake sings: “On some Hunger Games sh*t / I would die for my District/ Jennifer Lawrence, you can really get it / I mean, for real, girl, you know I had to do it for you.”

Renewing Her Contract With Dior

In July, Jennifer Lawrence renewed her Dior contract for more than $15 million. Sounds like a sweet deal! Especially since I’m sure she’ll continue having plenty of award shows to attend.

Breaking Up With Nicholas Hoult

Sadly, Lawrence and longtime boyfriend Nicholas Hoult split this year. While fans were disappointed about her break-up with the Skins actor, it was reportedly amicable.

Dating Chris Martin

Before you get too sad about her split from Hoult, Lawrence had another man in her life this year. She reportedly dated Coldplay ’s

Chris Martin after his “conscious uncoupling” from Gwyneth Paltrow. Unfortunately, Martin and J. Law didn’t last too long.

Setting a Guinness Wold Record

In September, news broke that Jennifer Lawrence set a Guinness Book World Record for becoming the highest grossing movie heroine. We all knew the Hunger Games flicks were popular, but this truly proves the power of girl power!

Speaking Out About Leaked Photos

Without a doubt, the leaked photo scandal ranks as a worst moment in 2014, considering it was a major invasion of privacy.

At the same time, Jennifer Lawrence’s response proves to be a best moment, because it was so perfect and unapologetic. She told Vanity Fair,

“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world. I started to write an apology, but I don’t have anything to say I’m sorry for.”

'Mockingjay' Premiere

The third installment of The Hunger Games series premiered in November. Unsurprisingly, Mockingjay — Part 1 was a huge hit! And of course, J. Law deserves credit for her always awesome role as Katniss.

Singing "The Hanging Tree"

In Mockingjay, Katniss Everdeen sings a little tune called “The Hanging Tree.” And yup, that was Jennifer Lawrence’s real voice! The song was such a hit it made its way to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
