'American Idol' Phillip Phillips Has Big XMas News

Though he's already secured an American Idol win and a pretty successful start in the music industry with a radio hit thereafter (you know you know all the words to "Home," don't lie), this news definitely trumps all that: According to his social media platforms, American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips just got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Hannah Blackwell over the Christmas holidays.

Although it’s unclear as to whether or not Phillips actually proposed on Christmas, Blackwell took to her Instagram page to post a picture of her ring on Dec. 26 with the caption, “I’ve been dreaming of this for over 20 years. I’ve been dreaming of this guy for just that long. Overwhelmed with happiness.”

Similarly, Phillips hopped on Twitter to post a picture of the happy couple, writing, “My best Christmas surprise is happening. We’re engaged yall!” In the photo, both Phillips and Blackwell are grinning from ear to ear, and even Blackwell still seems in shock as she holds her hand in the air with her new rock.

Phillips, who just finished his North American tour for his album Behind the Light, met Blackwell a few years ago when the pair was volunteering at the same women and children’s center, according to People. At the time, Blackwell was studying to be a nurse.
