Eminem Did Something Really Sweet for a Fan

I'm not the biggest Eminem fan — mostly because I don't like being yelled at on the radio while I'm driving — but this news might just convert me. On Sunday, Eminem paid a house visit to a terminally ill fan, making his wish come true, and it's hard not to recognize how sweet of an act that is. According to the Detroit Free Press, Eminem traveled to Rochester Hills, Michigan to surprise 17-year-old Gage Garmo, who'd been given a week to live after a long battle with bone cancer. Even sweeter? Eminem didn't want the media to make a spectacle of the whole thing in consideration of Garmo and his family.

After the hashtag #GetGageGarmoToMeetEminem took off, a Michigan organization that grants wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses called Rainbow Connection stepped in, got in touch with Eminem's people, and 48 hours later, Eminem was at Garmo's doorstep, ready to hang out and talk music and sports. Ingrid Todt of the Rainbow Connection added that this was the first time in a long time his family got to see Garmo sit up and smile — something that undoubtedly meant a lot to them.

"We're so glad we were able to reach Eminem's people and they were able to respond, and Eminem was able on such short notice to go and see this boy in his own home," a rep from Rainbow Connection said. "It says something about everybody, really. I hope all the students and friends of Gage feel good about their well-wishes too."

Unfortunately, this is where the story gets sadder. Monday night, Garmo died hours after a candlelight vigil was held for him at his high school. Eminem's label mate, Royce da 5'9", who had joined Eminem on his visit tweeted his condolences.
