Keira Explains Her Approach to Fashion

by Sienna Fantozzi

In case anyone still has some questions about Keira Knightley's Golden Globe's dress, she may have just given us some insight into her iffy choice. Knightley is on the cover of Elle UK, and the usually tight-lipped star is spilling style secrets — sort of.

The internet had very mixed reviews over Keira's Chanel Golden Globe's dress, you know, the one covered in birds, butterflies, and feathers. From a baby doll to Little House on the Prairie, haters certainly did hate on the actress' choice, but Knightley revealed to Elle UK that conventional fashion is not for her.

"Break the rules. I've always hated the idea that you should be wearing this or that, because it makes me feel like I'm getting everything wrong. I hated it at school, and I don't want it as an adult. If you want to wear a f*cking flowerpot on your head and that makes you happy, then wear a f*cking flowerpot on your head."

And while she didn't go so far as to wear a flowerpot on her head for the award show, she did have a flora and fauna inspired dress, but hey, if it makes her happy, why the heck not?

As for the cover, Knightley wore a clasic black-and-white Chanel romper and pearl sandals, and though she looks characteristically flawless, I'm kinda bummed there's no flowerpot...
