Chanel's Brasserie Is All Kinds Of Fun

by Sienna Fantozzi

After fall's feisty feminist rally, Karl Lagerfeld has decided to sit back and relax a little more this spring. Chanel's runway show was a brasserie, and the bustling café culture couldn't have been a more fitting setting for the iconic French brand, which has become as synonymous with Paris as it's famed eateries. Plus, combining my favorite designer with my favorite activity (food, of course) is pretty much the kind of stuff my dreams are made of.

The Grand Palais became Brasserie Gabrielle to display Chanel's fall/winter 2015 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The set came complete with a rich, mahogany bar, waiters in smart black vests and bow ties, and even white-clothed tables. The models entered through revolving doors, air kissed at the bar, and flung their new season bags across tables. It was busy and buzzing — the exact rhythm found in any French brasserie was replicated perfectly onto the set.

It felt accessible and leisurely — a sentiment the clothes seemed to reflect, as well. With cozy knits, bomber jackets, tweed skirts, and chunky heels, this collection felt livable. But the best part of all might have been Cara Delevingne opening the show (alongside her new best friend, Kendall Jenner), finally making a fashion month appearance. And if she was going to choose any show to walk, this one was definitely it.
