Britney Spears Is Taking a Break

Good news and bad news. Good news: Britney Spears' eighth studio album, "Britney Jean," is nearing completion and will be released in December of this year. Bad news: After it's released, don't expect to see her hurrying to complete another album. In a new interview with BBC Radio 1, Britney Spears revealed she plans to take a "break" from recording after her new album drops.

Spears commented on her plans when asked if she'd ever expected she would reach an eighth album in her career. "No I never did, I never felt that," she responded. "Never in my wildest dreams... I'll take a break after this one for a while."

A break from recording, perhaps, but Brit's still got a busy schedule ahead of her: After promotions for Britney Jean die down, she's set to kick off her two-year residency at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Dec. 27, which will include 50 shows each year. You can't blame the girl for wanting some time to herself, though — she recorded her eighth album this year. Who else can say that?

Spears also commented on the tone of the new album, telling BBC Radio 1, "it's very exciting, and this album is different from any other album I've done ... it's very moody and electric and different so, it's pretty cool. It's really nerve-racking cause you spend so much time on it and you've been really dedicated to this album... So it's like my baby coming to life."

Britney Jean will be released on Dec. 3.
