Carrie Underwood's Bad Hair Fix? A Cute Headband

by Madison Alcedo

New mother Carrie Underwood doesn't have much time to do her hair anymore. What's her simple hair fix for new mothers? The headband. Yes, that's right. Fabulous country singer Carrie Underwood relies on headbands for "messy" mom hair 'dos. Underwood recently Instagrammed a picture of herself wearing an adorable headband from her new fitness apparel line Calia by Carrie with the caption: "Headband to the rescue" and the hashtag, #KeepItSimple, which is exactly what she's doing with her headband hairstyle.

We love how Carrie #KeptItSimple and felt comfortable and cute wearing a headband. Who says a headband can't be a daily fashion accessory? Sure, it was a go-to in kindergarten and elementary school, but who's to say you can't bring back the easy hair accessory? Not Underwood! When you're crunched for time, a headband can add volume and pizazz to your hair. A headband can accessorize a ponytail, a braid, a bun, or when you're wearing your hair down — you name it, and we're sure a headband can add some excitement to your hair.

Even though Underwood calls her headband look "messy," we think it looks fresh and effortless with her bangs swooping across her face. OK, so maybe Underwood didn't wake up like her selfie with a full face of makeup, but we're loving this whole just-wear-a-headband thing to fix a bad hair day. Now grab a headband and style away!

Here's how you can get Carrie's headband look with 5 different headband options:

1. Knotted Headwrap

You can dress this black knotted headband from Forever 21 up or down for several day and night looks. (Knotted Headwrap, $2.90, forever21.com).

2. Floral Stretchy Headband

This Anthropologie polyester headband looks like a comfortable, stretchy pick that would look good with "messy" hair any day. (Impressionist Headband, $28.00, anthropologie.com).

3. Wideband Turban-Inspired Wrap

Sometimes you need a wide headband to keep all your hair back. This headband from Free People will do the trick. (Lyla Wideband, $18.00, freepeople.com).

4. Modern Scrunchie

Try the unconventional headband: the scrunchie! The scrunchie is making a comeback — especially ones that will look great with top knots. I'm loving so many different patterns from the Chelsea King Etsy shop. (Black & white stripe large scrunchie, $20.12, etsy.com/shop/ShopChelseaKing).

5. 1950-Style Tie Wrap

Bring back a retro look with this H&M tie headband. With the headband's wire frame, you can easily bend the wrap around your hair for a perfect fit. (Hair decoration, $4.95, hm.com).

Thanks to Carrie and her headband inspiration. I think it's safe to say we can almost say goodbye for good to bad hair days!
