Fans Remember James Gandolfini's Final 'Sopranos' Scene

by Kate Ward

The final scene of The Sopranos — with its much talked-about abrupt cut to black — is one of the most famous scenes in TV history. So it's little surprise following James Gandolfini's untimely death at 51 years old, the scene was revisited — both in our memories and literally.

After news of the actor's passing had spread, Holsten's — the ice cream parlor in Bloomfield, N.J. where the scene was filmed — was packed full of fans stopping by to remember the late Gandolfini. But there was one table that was noticeably empty — Holsten's reserved the spot where the actor had sat in the final scene as a tribute:

The band Journey — whose "Don't Stop Believin'" enjoyed a pop culture resurgence after it was played during Sopranos' final scene — also spoke out about Gandolfini's passing. "It's truly an honor to have been able to share one of the greatest moments ever in TV history with James Gandolfini," they said in a statement on their website. "He was an amazing actor — taken way too young — and he'll be missed. Our condolences go out to his family."
