Watch Vin Diesel's Tearful Tribute To Paul Walker

by Alyse Whitney

Vin Diesel may be known for playing tough, hard-as-nails, badass characters, but in real life, he has a soft spot. We got a glimpse at it during Diesel's emotional tribute to Paul Walker at a Furious 7 screening in LA on Monday. When the actor stepped in front of fans to introduce the "very, very personal and important film," he told a story about how he and Walker would have some alone time at each premiere. "Every time when I saw the movie at the premiere, Paul Walker and I would go off to the side," Diesel revealed. "He would always tell me, 'Vin, the best one is still in the character.' I hope tonight that you'd let Pablo know that this is the best one for you guys."

As Diesel continued, he got more and more choked up. "This was a labor of love. It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do, because the relationships that you see on film are so real," he said. "When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend. I lost my brother." At this point, he got so emotional that he had to stop, but cheers from fans — especially one guy shouting, "You got family here, Vin" — allowed him to continue.

"What can I say, guys. Thanks for being my family. Thanks for always taking care of us. Thanks for believing in us," Diesel continued. "Please from the bottom of my heart know that we made this movie from our hearts, and know that this is our gift to you. And more importantly, it’s for my brother there. Let it be the legacy we know he deserves." You can watch the full tribute below.
