A ‘Downton Abbey’ Movie May Happen & If It Does, It Should Definitely Consider These Plots — PHOTOS
Even though Downton Abbey is ending after Season 6, it isn't all bad news. In fact, we may see the Crawley family and their downstairs staff again sooner rather than later. During a press call on Thursday, executive producer Gareth Neame revealed that he and creator Julian Fellowes are considering making a Downtown movie. "[A movie is] definitely something we’re contemplating," he said. "It would be great fun to do."
If this movie does, indeed, happen, I have six plot ideas for what it could focus on, ranging from a time-jump to a decade later to following Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes as they open their bed and breakfast.

Modern Life With All Of The Crawleys
Given that the show is currently in the early ’20s, barely any of the characters would be alive in 2015. But we could jump ahead some time to show Lady Rose in the ’50s or what life is like for all of the Crawley sisters in more modern times. This could easily be done with the grandkids, leading me to my next idea…

Half Old 'Downton' & Half Grandkids Grown Up
Right now, George, Sybil, and Marigold aren’t the most exciting characters, but they will be when they can properly talk and cause their own drama. If half the film focused on catching us up with all of the families and then we flash-forwarded to the grandkids’ lives at Downton (or wherever they’re living now), it could be a fun balance.

Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson's Bed & Breakfast
Since Downton is centered around the people upstairs, it would be interesting to see a downstairs-centric movie. Everyone loves Carson and Mrs. Hughes, so watching their bed and breakfast come together and inviting in the rest of the cast could be a fun twist.

Lady Rose & Branson In America
Since Lady Rose moved to America with her husband, Atticus, and Branson is going to Boston with little Sybil, chronicling their lives there could be an interesting part of a movie. Of course, we’d want to check in with the rest of the family back in England, too.

One Big Christmas Episode
The best part of Downton’s season is the Christmas special, so why not give us one super-sized version to say goodbye to the show? It could also include some flash-forwards to be more well-rounded.
