Eyebrow Extensions Are A Real Thing

I love a full, natural eyebrow, but this may be going overboard. Eyebrow extensions are the latest and arguably greatest offering the beauty world has to offer. Fuller, almost-but-not-quite bushy brows are super in, leaving us coveting the likes of Cara Delevingne and Rihanna. We need those eyebrows on fleek, and there is a new way for brow fiends to get their fix.

Eyebrow extensions are applied in a couple ways: either directly onto the skin or attached in individual hairs. The process is costly, with prices ranging from $100 - $300. Sounds a little painful, but according to Style.com's Courtney Buhler, founder of Rectifeye Brows, it sounds worse than it is. “The process is relaxing,” says Buhler, “and most women fall asleep!”

But we have to wonder: is it worth the investment? Well, the hair-to-skin technique can last 7-10 days (so, that's a no), but the hair-to-hair treatment can last 3-4 weeks. Of course, how you maintain them will also determine the lifespan of your new brows.

“The general rules for maintaining the life of the brow extensions are to be gentle on them and not grind them into your pillow as you sleep,” says Buhler.

For the everyday occasion, I think this may be a waste of your money. Think of all the Starbucks lattes and Chipotle burritos you could buy! However, there is an upside: if you're going through a tweezing mishap, dealing with the effects of chemotherapy, or just in need of a confidence boost for a big interview or event, eyebrow extensions could help you look like your best self.

“The most rewarding experience for our clients is to see the realistic texture of the brow extensions and no longer have to pencil brows in every day just to feel normal,” says Buhler.

I do feel good knowing that by the ripe old age of 89, all hope is not lost. By then, I've probably plucked my eyebrows into oblivion, but thank goodness I'll be able to rock some extensions!
