Berkeley London Offers Fashion-Inspired Desserts

by Augusta Statz

I already thought going to afternoon tea seemed like a pretty posh thing to do, but now it’s even fancier. The Berkeley Hotel in London serves a fashion-inspired afternoon tea called Pret-a-Portea (clever, huh?), according to Harper's Bazaar, so now you can wear your fashion and eat it, too. The desserts at the Pret-a-Portea service are edible replicas of the latest looks from the runway. They're so pretty they're almost too good to eat. Almost. I imagine them all to be quite scrumptious (that's a totally British thing to say, trust me).

Just like fashion, the tea menu is ever-evolving to keep up with the most recent noteworthy fashion moments. Right now, for example, you can order Alexander McQueen inspired chocolates and cookies, in honor of the Savage Beauty exhibition. Even if you can't own the label's Armadillo shoes or famed butterfly hat, at least you can eat them, right? Head pastry chef Mourad Khiat re-evaluates the menu every six months, so his next creations will undoubtedly feature some of the best looks from the A/W 2015 collections.

Of course, there are plenty of memorable moments from fashion month, but some lend themselves to desserts quite easily. Take a look at the fashion desserts that are available at the hotel right now.

Since fashion month was just a short while ago, there's plenty of new fodder for future foodie collections.

Seeing these flowers delicately hand-piped onto cookies, cakes, and more would be absolutely beautiful.

The McDonald’s design is already featured at The Berkeley, so why not add the teddy bear to the list? Picture this — a bear-shaped cookie with ears.

Hear me out — a fondant recreation of that hair would be quite something, and a huge treat for those of us who like a little cake and a double helping of frosting!

In his first collection for Adidas, Kanye was doing some edgy stuff. I’d love to see mini-cookie versions of the shoes featured in the collection. Yeezy Boost cookies… it makes me smile just thinking about it.

Pop-art logos on bags are trending hard thanks to fashion month, and nobody does this style better than Anya Hindmarch. I’d definitely enjoy some bold patchwork on my crumpets, please and thank you!

This tea service combines two of my favorite things: sweets and fashion. So, I can’t wait to travel to London and sample this deliciousness for myself (#travelgoals). See more of the edible fabulousness by visiting Berkeley London’s website and book that air fare, stat.
