Is Tyrion The Logan Echolls Of 'Game Of Thrones'?

by Mary Grace Garis

If you ever wondered what kind of TV Veronica Mars tunes into, the mystery has at long last been solved: Turns out, she's a diehard Game of Thrones fan! So much that the face behind the private eye, Kristen Bell, recently tweeted that, "Tyrion Lannister is the Logan Echolls of Game of Thrones." Is this a valid observation? Are there overlaps between Neptune and the Westeros? How would Game of Thrones characters relate to Veronica Mars characters?

I mean, kind of not, but humor me for a minute. If Logan and Tyrion can be cross-series soulmates, what other characters between shows hold similarities? Well, I took a full literal minute to draw parallels and make conclusions, and here's my findings.

Intense Game of Thrones (or Veronica Mars) fans, rest assured I'm not using sophisticated arc comparisons and hyper attention to details to draw these parallels. Rather, these play out more like if the VM cast took a "Which 'Game of Thrones' Character are you?" quiz written with absolute (OK, debatable) accuracy. So, in short, if you don't agree with the assessments, you're not obligated to put it on your Facebook page. Pinkie promise.

So here's a thumbnail analysis of which Veronica Mars characters share ties — even faint ones — with other Game of Thrones characters. Spoilers ahead for everything ever.

Veronica Mars is obviously... Daenerys Targaryen

What do these flaxen-haired heroines have in common? Well, they both start the series with a kind sexual assault, wronged and abandoned by their family (Veronica's mother, Dany's brother) and they both become total badasses in the wake of tragedy (Lilly and Drogo's deaths, respectively). From then on, they don't take anyone's bullshit: With their innocence shattered, all that's left behind is a strong woman who could take over the world... albeit, one just ends up solving mysteries and stuff, but still. Badass.

Mac is obviously... Missandei.

Veronica has a lot of informants that help with her detective work, but I don't really peg Wallace or Weevil as a Missandei type. Mac, however, is a slightly closer fit. Both are helping hands to their blonde friends by utilizing their intellect; Mac with her next-level technology skills, Missandei with her fluency in 19 languages. (Although, I mean, you only REALLY need 15 or 16.)

Aaron Echolls is obviously... Joffrey Baratheon.

Logan's dad isn't so instantly hateable as Joffrey, but as soon as his abusive nature shines through, you have that similar feeling of "Wow, this guy is the WORST." Both are cruel, barbaric, and sadly given an inordinate amount of power. And, both are finally assassinated in moments that warrant a triumphant fist pump.

Lilly Kane is obviously... kind of a Margaery Tyrell type in life, but basically Ned Stark in death.

Clearly. Though Lilly was had less direct ambitions than Margaery, she shares the beauty, the vivaciousness, the willingness to use her feminine wiles (and plunging cleavage) freely. They even use their worldly ways to educate the less experienced, like the way Margaery delivered some real talk to Sansa (in short, when Sansa was to wed Tyrion, Margaery stated, "you still somehow haven't landed the worst of the Lannister family, trust me.") But Lilly's only really seen in flashbacks, so her death is really more of a Ned Stark kind of deal. It really sets a tone for the rest of the series to have the mighty fall hard at the hands of a total asshole.

Cassidy Casablancas is obviously... Jon Snow.

Okay, not at all, couldn't be more different. But I'm just saying, being a lesser son constantly referred to as "Ned Stark's bastard" must be just as soul crushing as being constantly referred to as "Beaver."

Actually, no, Beaver's still worse.
