When Will Bruce Jenner's Documentary Series Air?

There were a lot of tears, a lot of laughs, and a lot of education going around on Friday night when Bruce Jenner revealed to Diane Sawyer that he identified as female. However, that was far from the only revelation that Jenner made during the two-hour special. Some revelations were about his family, and their reactions to his road to accept and express his gender identity. Some revelations were about his future — including plans for an E! reality television series starring Jenner. But when will Jenner's new documentary series air? I'm sure I'm not the only one who needs to know what date to set the DVR for.

According to the statement E! News released on Friday, the series will premiere on Sunday, July 26 at 9 p.m. EST. It will debut in eight parts that will be an hour long each. Although it has yet to be given a title, the show will follow Jenner on his journey to live his life as a woman. E! said:

E! announces a new documentary series with Bruce Jenner living his life as a transgender woman. The series will tell Bruce’s intimate story and will join him as he seeks out his “new normal.” Living for the first time as the person he feels he was born to be, the docuseries will also explore what Bruce’s transition means for the people in his life and how those relationships are affected, while offering a better understanding of many of life’s challenges. The eight-part, one-hour series will premiere Sunday, July 26 at 9:00pm on E! and will also air on the E! channels internationally. A series title will be announced at a later date.

July 26 might seem like a long time to wait, but Jenner has given us a lot to think about in that time. And, quite honestly, he is fully deserving of his privacy during this time. Even before Jenner opened up to the world about his struggle in the 20/20 interview, people were speculating about his gender identity or making jokes about his transition as though it were a laughing matter. Now that Jenner has decided to take his narrative into his own hands — and devote as much time in his interview to educating people about trans issues as he did to sharing his own personal story — three months of privacy before his docuseries airs are three months he thoroughly deserves.

The show might not have a name yet, but I already know that I'll be tuning in. If you weren't emotionally invested in Jenner's story before, then you certainly will be by the final second of his 20/20 interview.
