Could Google Glass 2.0 Look Like Ray-Bans?

by Stephanie Chon

If you were one of the few who were able to purchase a Google Glass pair before the public sales ended back in mid-January, you were probably quick to realize that the high-tech glasses had room for improvement in the aesthetics department. Although they upped their style points when their slate titanium frames were revealed, I’m glad to hear that Google Glass 2.0 could look more like Ray-Bans, thanks to its partnership with Luxottica, an Italian luxury eyewear company.

Leonardo Del Vecchio, the founder of Luxottica, shared his opinion about Glass during an interview last September, saying, “I have not used Google Glass. It would embarrass me going around with that on my face. It would be okay in the disco, but I longer go to the disco.” One of Luxottica’s many brands are Ray-Bans, so I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for some big, thick-framed designs along with some signature aviator-styled ones.

On top of aesthetics, you can also expect Glass 2.0 to have longer battery life, better sound quality and display, and it will also be more affordable. According to WSJ, we're going to have to wait a while to get our hands on the new, more stylish upgrade. Luxottica says the first product will be available between February and March of next year.
