Kerry Washington Is A Blushing Met Ball Beauty

by Tyler Atwood

Unlike her monochrome-favoring small screen alter ego Olivia Pope, Kerry Washington has a sartorial wild streak. As a devotee of bold patterns, bright hues, and avant-garde design, it should come as no surprise that Kerry Washington's Met Ball gown is already one of the most intrepid of the evening. You may recall that Washington has a long history of bending the best dressed rules of the red carpet. Who else would have the confidence and prenatal glow to sport a silk crop top with a burgeoning belly? Washington's sartorial sense consistently keeps fans and fashion critics alike on their toes, and what more could one ask of a celebrity?

Washington stepped onto the Met Ball red carpet in a beautiful blush-hued Prada gown with a full skirt and a meandering vine embroidery climbing the high-low skirt. With its stiff silk fabric and voluminous skirt, it would take quite an actress to pull off such a striking ensemble — and Washington possess the poise and confidence to do so. Accented with a green silk clutch and green pointy-toe pumps, Washington's look is the spitting image of a freshly blooming rose, an appearance no doubt orchestrated by Washington's aesthetic team.

Whether you adore the color pink or find it too twee for your taste, you have to respect a woman who has the chutzpah to swath herself in the shade. Bravo, Kerry Washington, and consider the Met Ball fashion situation handled.
