Macy's Will Open Off-Price Chain Stores

Macy's fans, rejoice: this coming fall, Macy’s will open off-price chains called Macy’s Backstage and you know what that means, right? More discounts, baby!

The news was released back in January, but Macy’s didn’t confirm any details other than the fact that they were planning to open a chain of off-price stores. But now that the word is officially out, you can expect the stores to be a 30,000 square-feet space filled with all the clearance items that have accumulated from 800 Macy's department stores. And just like Nordstrom Rack, Macy’s Backstage will sell designer brands for a fraction of the original prices.

New Yorkers, you all are super lucky because Macy’s Backstage will be coming to you guys first. In fact, you guys are going to be getting four locations right off the bat. As for the rest of the world, Macy’s chief innovation and business development officer, Peter Sachse, told Fortune, “As with all of Macy’s innovations, we will test and learn to see what resonates most with customers so we can adjust before rolling out additional locations.” I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for California!
