Lena Dunham Supports Kim K's Book Selfish

by Stephanie Chon

Even if you were not lucky enough to snag the limited edition copy of Kim Kardashian’s book Selfish back when Gilt was selling signed versions of it, you can still grab your own copy, because it's finally available for purchase. You would think that in a selfie-saturated society (try saying that 10 times fast), a 353-page book of selfies would be acceptable, but it has been met with relatively judgmental responses. That’s why it’s especially refreshing to see that Lena Dunham supports Kim Kardashian’s selfie book.

Earlier today, Dunham Instagrammed a selfie of her holding up her copy of Selfish with her head slightly tilted away from the camera and lips puckered just enough, but not too much to look like duck face. It was obvious that Dunham was trying to recreate Kim K's pose, which she struck on the cover of Selfish. The caption on the Instagram photo read, “selfie with selfish #yeahiboughtit (I support experiments in female identity exploration/am a student of pop culture/will not be shamed).”

It's nice to see fellow celebrities supporting Kardashian, despite all of the criticism she received for her book. At the end of the day, we, as women, should be supporting each other's projects instead of tearing each other down. Props to Dunham for reminding everyone about girl power! Now, I’m just wondering if after Kardashian sees that kind of support from her first published book, whether or not she’ll consider busting out a sequel — Selfish II, anyone?
