Who Are Rachel Bilson's Instagram Role Models?

by Kadeen Griffiths

There seems to be a huge rash of celebrities discovering the wonder that is Instagram these days. I'm incredibly partial to the moment former Golden Girls star Betty White joined Instagram, because Betty White is a national treasure, but she's far from the only star to begin giving us a photographic look into her life. Just this week, Rachel Bilson joined Instagram, and immediately began posting pictures that show off what a classy mother she is. I don't want to toot her horn for her, but Bilson's Instagram is quickly going to become your favorite one to follow — mostly because I already have a good idea of what other Instagrams she should be modeling her own after.

Of course, it's quite likely that Bilson will elect to ignore my advice entirely. After all, Instagram is a place to inspire, to educate, an to allow people to invade your privacy in a controlled sort of way. Unlike Twitter and Facebook, you don't actually have to add words: cryptic pictures worth a thousand of them are completely acceptable. Since joining, Bilson has already made three posts sans captions, of a book, a poster, and baby shoes respectively, but if she wants to amass even more followers then there are certain people she look to for Instagram inspiration.

Like these seven.

1. Taylor Swift

Swift posts a lot of pictures that give everyone #squadgoals, and/or make everyone start conspiring to steal one of her cats. Her Instagram is like skipping through a teen romantic comedy, or maybe an arts and craft magazine. If Bilson wants to start killing us with cute, and making us wish we could consume the things she bakes, she'll model her Instagram after Swift.

2. Beyoncé

Beyoncé's Instagram is impossible to replicate because Queen Bey is a pretty high bar to set for yourself, but the fact that she posts so many vacation pictures of herself with Blue Ivy is something that Bilson could definitely try out. Who doesn't want to make an online photo album devoted to watching their baby grow up? (OK, I just want to see a bunch of pictures of Briar.)

3. Miley Cyrus

Cyrus' Instagram is basically the craziest (or second craziest) place to be on the Internet. Sometimes it's in a good way, sometimes it's in a bad way, but it's always in an interesting way. If Bilson wants to show off her sense of humor by photoshopping or bedazzling photos and then posting them on the 'gram, then who are we to say no?

4. Kim Kardashian

Kim K is the selfie queen, but, if Bilson starts now, then she could maybe catch up to Kardashian's selfie level. You know, in half a century. But, until she caught up, we'd still get to see a hundred pictures of the actress formerly known as Summer Roberts, so I'll call that one a win.

5. Betty White

Betty White having an Instagram at all is a source of constant delight to me, so, if Bilson wants to just cover her Instagram with photos of Betty White, I would be absolutely OK with that.

6. James Franco

James Franco's Instagram is, to me, the actual craziest place to be on the Internet. Between all the lying down selfies and the paintings of Seth Rogen naked, Bilson would have to work really hard to make her own Instagram compare. Time to start learning to paint nude portraits a la Jack from Titanic.

7. Ansel Elgort

Elgort shows off his dorky sense of humor through pictures like this and the selfies he takes with his own movie posters. Bilson should definitely start doing that as well, if only because it would make me even more charmed by her than I already am. Welcome to Instagram, Bilson. We hope you enjoy your stay.
