The Craziest Hats From The 2015 Royal Ascot

by Jamie Cuccinelli

Remember the Royal Wedding in 2011, when the guests opulent hats did battle with the Duchess' dress for center stage? Well, it turns out that Pippa Middleton’s fascinator ain’t got nothing on elaborate, crazy hats at the 2015 Royal Ascot. Sorry Pippa, but your fellow Brits really pulled out the big guns for this one!

The Royal Ascot is a British horserace in Ascot, England, where the hat that you wear on your head is possibly more important than the horses running around the track. Let's face it — horses don't wear anything interesting. Who cares what color saddle a pony is rocking, am I right? With the races in full swing, attendees have been busying themselves by trying to outshine one another and earn the gold trophy for the most gravity-defying, totally ridiculous, impractical yet imaginative hat. That’s a prize they give out during these horse races, right? If not, they really should start. These Royal Ascot hats are giving some of the craziest Kentucky Derby toppers a run for their money, that's for sure.

Even if the Royal Ascot doesn't formally recognize the best hats from the event, Bustle does! See who takes the cake for the most opulent, the most ridiculous, and more below. I wonder how the Queen feels about not winning best in show?
