The Best Quotes From Hillary's CNN Interview

by Elizabeth King

On Wednesday evening Hillary Clinton gave her first national interview as a presidential candidate to CNN senior political correspondent, Brianna Keilar. Clinton and Keilar sat down in Iowa City, Iowa, to discuss her presidential campaign, the email-gate controversy, and immigration, among other important topics. The tone of the interview was primarily up-beat, with Clinton and Keilar laughing together during some portions of the sit-down. Though Clinton also got very serious at times, particularly when Keilar asked her about how she felt about Donald Trump's recent comments about Mexican immigrants to the U.S., and when giving her own description of what happened during the controversy surrounding her government emails.

Throughout the interview, Clinton seemed poised, prepared, and ready to discuss some of the issues that are important to voters as she continues to gear up her presidential campaign, and sell herself as the president American is ready for. Clinton also emphasized her trustworthiness, and her feeling that Americans do in fact trust her. There was much to be gleaned from this interview, and here are some of the most provocative and informative quotes that emerged.

On Email-gate

I want people to understand what the truth is. And the truth is: everything I did was permitted, and I went above and beyond what anybody could have expected in making sure that if the State department didn't capture something, I made a real effort to get it to them. And I had no obligation to do any of that.

Immigration

When asked about Donald Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants, Clinton responded:

I feel very bad and very disappointed with him and with the Republican party for not responding immediately and saying, enough, stop it.

Speaking about immigration policy:

It's good for us. It's good economically. It's good for the taxes that will be legally collected. It's good for the children ... I am one hundred percent for comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship.

On the Republican stance on immigration:

They're on a spectrum of hostility, which I think is really regrettable.

About A Woman On The $10 Bill

I don't like the idea that as a compromise you would basically have two people on the same bill, and one would be a woman. That sounds pretty second class to me. I think a woman should have her own bill and it may be more appropriate to look at the $20 than the $10.

On Being Trustworthy

People should and do trust me.
But I have every confidence that during the course of this campaign, people are going to know who will fight for them, who will be there when they need them, and that's the kind of person I am and that's what I will do, not only in a campaign but as president.

On Hilary Clinton Impersonators

Keilar asked Clinton which impersonator she prefers, Amy Poehler or Kate McKinnon:

I think I'm the best Hillary Clinton, to be honest. So I'm just going to be my own little self.
