Following the departure of Damian Lewis (who played shady hedge fund manager Bobby “Axe” Axelrod) at the close of Billions Season 5, some fans were unsure if the series would be able to forge a compelling new path, as early seasons were largely defined by the ongoing feud between Lewis’ Axe and Paul Giamatti’s Chuck Rhoades. While the introduction of Corey Stoll as Michael Prince in Season 6 has proved to be exactly what Billions needed, fans of the show will be pleased to know that Lewis will be returning for Season 7, which will also be the show’s last.

Variety reported Showtime’s official announcement of Billions’ final season on June 15. In a statement, Chris McCarthy, President & CEO of Showtime, MTV Entertainment Studios, and Paramount Media Networks said, “‘Billions’ has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian and David.”

McCarthy added, “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.”

Now that Billions is ending, here’s everything we know so far about Season 7.

The Billions Season 7 Cast & Plot

In addition to Lewis’ return as Bobby Axelrod, Season 7 will likely see the return of many longtime Billions cast members, including Maggie Siff (Wendy Rhoades), David Costabile (Mike “Wags” Wagner), Condola Rashād (Kate Sacker), Asia Kate Dillon (Taylor Amber Mason), Jeffrey DeMunn (Charles Rhoades Sr.), and Giamatti. Some newer additions from Season 6 are also likely to reprise their roles for the upcoming season, such as Daniel Breaker (Scooter Dunbar) and Sakina Jaffrey (Daevisha “Dave” Mahar) in addition to Stoll.

In February, Showtime revealed a short synopsis of Billions Season 7, per Variety: “In season seven, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.”

The Billions Season 7 Premiere Date

Along with confirming Season 7 as the final season, the network also announced the show’s return date. The 12-episode season will release its first episode on Paramount+ with Showtime on Aug. 11 before airing on Showtime on Aug. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. If Season 7 releases episodes on consecutive weeks, you can expect the Billions series finale to be available to stream on Oct. 27.
