Hogwarts has another future student on the way. On Sept. 28 Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright announced on Instagram that she’s welcomed her first child, son Elio Ocean Wright Lococo. She gave birth roughly a week earlier, on Sept. 19, and shares the newborn with husband Andrew Lococo, whom she married in March 2022.

The actor, who played Ginny Weasley in the franchise, shared her son’s first baby photo to make the announcement. “We’re all healthy and happy. Andrew and I are so in love with our sun!” she wrote. “So grateful for our birth team that have held our hands throughout and made the journey so joyous and expanding. Birth is the wildest experience!”

She went on to shout-out her husband: “Lastly thanks to Andrew my rock throughout birth quite literally as I squeezed onto you so tight and you never wavered,” she wrote. “Elio has the most tender loving papa. Ok hormonal emotional extra long caption over!”

Wright announced her pregnancy in April, sharing an Instagram post just days after co-star Daniel Radcliffe was spotted out with his first child.

“We’re having a baby! So excited to share this beautiful land with them,” she wrote alongside two sweet photos of the couple on their property in Southern California. “What a wild and humbling journey pregnancy is, transforming to make space for new life.”

Even before the April pregnancy announcement, fans picked up on Wright’s maternal vibes. On April 24 she posted photos from a “beautiful little hike” in their backyard with friends. In each photo, she’s holding their friends’ child.

The couple got a lot of love after Wright’s announcement, including from her fellow Harry Potter vets. “So exciting!!! Congratulations Bonnie and Andrew!” Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood, commented on the post. Two of Wright’s onscreen brothers, Chris Rankin (Percy) and James Phelps (Fred), both sent their congrats as well, as did Anna Shaffer and Scarlett Hefner, who played Slytherins Romilda Vane and Pansy Parkinson, respectively. Afshan Azad (Padma Patil) added, “Love you and my niece or nephew so so much already!”

Some fans felt old thinking about Harry and Ginny as parents, while others joked about a new Weasley or Potter. (According to Harry Potter lore, Harry and Ginny’s kids would actually be teenagers now, as they were born between 2004 and 2008.)

Wright and Lococo have generally been quite private about their relationship. Wright first posted a photo of her then-boyfriend to Instagram in September 2020. She announced their marriage in March 2022 by sharing footage of their wedding-ring-clad hands. “Yesterday was the best day of my life ... thanks to my husband!!” she wrote. Professional photos soon followed, and she told Brides that they’d decided to get married about six months prior, in September 2021.
