It’s been over a month since the Framing Britney Spears documentary came out, and now it’s the pop star’s turn to talk. On Tuesday, March 30, Britney Spears took to Instagram to share one of her famous dancing videos, which featured her doing twirls in her living room to Aerosmith’s “Crazy.” In the caption, the singer broke her silence on the documentary and revealed that while she didn’t watch it in full, the part she did see made her cry — and they weren’t happy tears.

“I didn't watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in,” Spears wrote. “I cried for two weeks and well .... I still cry sometimes !!!! I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy ... love ... and happiness.” The documentary ignited an ongoing conversation about how the pop star was treated by the media during the height of her fame. It also shed light on her past relationship with singer Justin Timberlake.

“My life has always been very speculated ...watched ... and judged really my whole life !!!” she said, adding that dancing on social media has helped make her feel “wild and human and alive.” “I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people!!! It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I've always been so judged... insulted... and embarrassed by the media... and I still am till this day.”

Spears’ social media statement comes amid an ongoing legal battle with her father, Jamie Spears, over control of her finances. Earlier this month, the “Toxic” singer filed a petition for him to officially resign as her conservator. Her response also comes several weeks after Timberlake issued an apology on Instagram after facing backlash for how he treated Spears during their relationship. The pop stars dated between 1998 and 2002.

“I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond," Timberlake wrote on Feb. 12. "I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.”

Spears, for her part, hasn’t directly responded to Timberlake’s apology. She did, however, remind her followers that she’s only human and that, much like everyone else, she has feelings. “As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people,” she said. But there is one thing that continues to bring her joy, even if she gets flack for it: dancing. “Every day dancing brings me joy !!!” she wrote. “I'm not here to be perfect ... perfect is boring ... I'm here to pass on kindness !!!!”
