There are so many different ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, especially when you take astrology into account. Some zodiac signs love to lean into the romance of it all with flowers and fancy dinners, while others prefer to switch things up and take a more non-traditional route.

That said, even if you know your preferred vibe, it isn’t always easy to figure out what to do or where to go on Valentine’s Day. There are so many options, and there’s also a ton of pressure to create the perfect experience for yourself and your date — and it can truly stop you in your tracks.

It’s tough enough when you’re trying to figure out what to do with a partner on Valentine’s Day, but it gets even trickier if you’re flying solo or meeting up with friends for a night of platonic love. Should you go to dinner? Stay in and watch rom-coms? The world is your oyster, yet that somehow makes it even more difficult to decide.

According to Astrid Bly, a premier astrology expert with California Psychics, that’s when you can turn to your birth chart for clues. “Since Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love, it’s important to not only consider one’s sun sign but also factor in Venus’s placement as well, since this will speak to each sign’s heart,” she tells Bustle.

Bowling Night

As a fire sign, anyone with Aries placements should lean into doing something active this Valentine’s Day, which is why Bly suggests a bowling night or something equally fun that’ll get you up and moving.

Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action, so you’ll love the friendly competition of this activity. Bowling is lighthearted and adorably retro, but it can also get serious when you start scoring strikes. For other heart-pumping options, try dancing or singing karaoke.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Couples Massage

If you or your date has Taurus placements, you’ll want to kick back and relax this Valentine’s Day. Venus-ruled earth signs love all things sensual and romantic, which is why a massage at a spa would be ideal. You can take yourself out as a little treat or book a massage for two. “It’ll be the perfect way for a Taurus to unwind and get into their comfort zone,” says Bly.

Dinner & A Movie

Fun-loving Geminis are always eager to wear a cute outfit and get out of the house, which is why Bly suggests going out to a cute cafe. As a chatty, observant air sign, you’ll love everything about the Valentine’s Day vibe: The people-watching, the romance, the flowers — so ask for a seat in the middle of it all. Follow it up with a stroll to the movie theater to see the latest release, and then talk about it on your way home. As a Mercury-ruled air sign, you’ll have a lot to say.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Write Love Letters

When you’re a Cancer, nothing screams “love” quite like a romantic note, so why not spend your day penning letters? “Known as one of the most emotional signs, Cancers will appreciate a Valentine’s Day gesture that touches the heart,” says Bly. You’ll love to write them and receive them.

Words of affirmation are your love language, so another option would be to text your friends, your mom, your partner — or that cute Hinge match you’ve had your eye on — to share the love. As a water sign, it’ll feel good to spend the day connecting on a deeper level.

Leo (July 23 - Aug. 22)

Get Dinner & Dessert

Out of all the zodiac signs, Leos will most appreciate a traditional Valentine’s Day with roses, boxes of chocolates, and sparkly gifts. Whether you’re planning the date or being whisked away, make sure you dress to the nines and go to the fanciest place possible. Get everything on the V-Day menu, a little bubbly, and a dessert — and hey, go ahead and feed each other for good measure, too.

For the solo Leos, Bly says it would be so fun to take a flower arranging class. Pick out all your favorite blossoms and assemble the biggest bouquet, then take it home and put it where you’ll see it every day.

Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22)

Couples Pottery Class

As a Virgo, you’ll most appreciate a practical approach to Valentine’s Day. Instead of pushing through crowds, dropping cash on an expensive dinner, or buying flowers that’ll wilt in a few days, Bly recommends doing something tangible, like taking a pottery class.

Not only will it be a fun activity, but she says you’ll appreciate being able to reuse your bowl or plate in everyday life. As an earth sign, you’ll enjoy getting your hands dirty, too. If you don’t have a date, invite a friend or go solo and paint a mug as a gift for someone you care about.

Libra (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22)

Romantic Stroll

Libras love everything about Valentine’s Day, so lean into it without shame. If the weather is halfway nice, Bly suggests an evening boat tour around your city with a partner, a night out with friends, or a saucy evening during which you’ll watch your favorite rom-coms.

As a Venus-ruled air sign, it’s on brand for you to love this holiday. While you’re at it, wear red, decorate your apartment with hearts and flowers, and score as many chocolates as possible.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)

Candlelit Dinner

Whether single or coupled up, Scorpios will fully appreciate a candlelit dinner. As an enigmatic water sign, see if you can find a jazz bar where you can pretend you’re living in another decade. Think low lights, sultry music, and lots of steamy eye contact with your date.

Solo Scorpios can set a pretty table for themselves at home. Pick up all your favorite food, put on your go-to comfort movie, and spend the evening getting back in touch with yourself. Oh, and don’t forget the candles.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)

Wine Tasting

The last thing a Sagittarius wants to do on Valentine’s Day is stay in. As a fire sign, you like to have fun no matter the holiday, so find a way to go out whether you’re single or taken.

“A few fun date ideas include a farmer’s market, cooking class, wine tasting, or drive-in movie,” says Bly, though you would also be down for a concert, comedy show, or a karaoke night with friends. As Bly says, “Sagittarians will enjoy anything that brings excitement.”

Capricorn (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)

Cook A Homemade Meal

Capricorn is more than happy to stay in and cook a homemade meal. “They are generally the least intense about Valentine’s Day compared to the other signs,” says Bly, and that’s because you’re way too practical — and tired — to brave the crowds and the pricy menus.

Instead of forcing yourself to go out, feel free to relax at home with a bowl of pasta and your comfiest pajamas. If you’re single, call it a night early and catch up on sleep as an act of self-care. If you’re in a relationship, enjoy cuddling with your SO.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)

Night At The Museum

As a sign ruled by the visionary planet Uranus, Aquarius will never say no to an artsy date at a museum. You’ll enjoy walking around, looking at paintings, and having deep discussions with your date. “Alternatively, you could take a trip back in time by checking out a history museum together,” says Bly.

Aquarians are air signs, which means you’ll appreciate sharing your ideas and striking up interesting conversations with your date. For another option, stay in and watch juicy documentaries.

Pisces (Feb. 19 - March 20)

Movie Night At Home

A Pisces doesn’t have to go anywhere to have fun on Valentine’s Day. Invite your partner over, create a nest on your couch with blankets and pillows, and spend the night watching movies.

If you do want to go out, Bly suggests hitting up an old-timey movie theater for the romantic vibe. As a water sign ruled by creative Neptune, you’ll enjoy the blast from the past. This is perfect for the single Pisces of the world, too. Nothing beats going to a movie sans distractions and having the popcorn all to yourself.
