Summertime is practically synonymous with all things fresh. Think juicy peaches, grilled corn on the cob, and of course, chilled watermelon all season long. In addition to eating it in thick-cut slices as you watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July, watermelon has a multitude of uses and has at last landed its main character moment in TikTok’s latest viral recipe: Watermelon salad.
The hashtag #WatermelonSalad has garnered 5.4 million views over on TikTok with users whipping together their best summertime salad that includes in-season fruits, feta crumbles, and aromatic herbs to top it off. Some have even incorporated heat into the recipe, most notably via Tajín seasoning as seen in this June 11 video by @katchaomeow. As a friendly disclaimer, proceed with caution before scrolling through the endless amount of mouthwatering videos because you will want to drop everything to toss together this feel-good recipe.
Whether you want to eat it straight from the bowl or use it as a topping for tacos, this watermelon salad brings a garden-fresh crispness that is thankfully simple to toss up in no time. Plus, not only is it packed with antioxidant-rich watermelon and ultra-hydrating cucumber, but it’s also a delectable blend of buttery feta and cooling mint. In other words, a magical bowl of every flavor one would crave this sunny season. Say less.
What Is Watermelon Salad?
While there are slightly different variations of watermelon salad, the base ingredients are always the same: Watermelon, cucumber, red onion, feta cheese, lime, and mint. You can also add cubed avocado if you’re feeling extra fancy or even swap out the feta for mozzarella if that’s your jam. Any way you decide to mix things up, the core flavors of watermelon and cucumber will still reign supreme.

Cut your watermelon into cubes, then transfer to a large bowl.
Dice the cucumber into half-moon slices, then toss into the bowl. (Be sure to scrape out the seeds if applicable.)
