After a long, dark, and cold winter, the first semblance of spring finally arrives on March 8. Yes, it’s Daylight Savings Time, bringing a whole extra hour of post-work sun. You know what that means — time to shake off the winter blues and get your booty outside, literally and metaphorically. There’s plenty of opportunities to do so here in the latest rendition of “Your Month IRL”, Bustle’s monthly in-person events calendar.
It feels like the whole world is coming back to life in March, which just so happens to be Women’s History Month. Women’s sports will keep the energy high all month long, from the Paralympics in Italy, to the Unrivaled basketball playoffs in New York City. From St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to music festivals to unique exhibits — whether you’re hopping on a plane or heading to your local pub, there’s no shortage of things to do this spring.

Some dates and details to keep in mind, regardless of which city you call home.
What better way to celebrate Women’s History Month, than to watch women’s sports history in the making? March is packed with major events in women’s athletics, from the Unrivaled Playoffs starting on the 2nd, to the NWSL season kickoff on the 13th, to NCAA March Madness starting on the 18th. For even more girl power, get a whole group together for a watch party at your local women’s sports bar.
Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, but especially on March 6, when Harry Styles officially drops his long-awaited album. Let your fangirl freak flag fly, whether you’re tuning in from your living room with your besties, or heading to a listening party complete with some One Direction throwbacks.
Dealing with a major Olympics hangover? No worries — after a short pause, the Milano-Cortina Paralympic Games kick off on March 6, bringing even more wintry action across six sports: para alpine skiing, para biathlon, para cross-country skiing, para ice hockey, para snowboard, and wheelchair curling, airing on NBC and Peacock.
Head south for the spring... South by Southwest, that is. The Austin, Texas festival is back, with sets from an expansive range of today’s hottest artists, from Lola Young and Ella Langley, to The All-American Rejects and BigXthaPlug. Beyond the fun, there’s also keynote speakers, expert panels, and mentor sessions, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the music industry. Get a wristband to attend for a day, or go all-out and make it a week-long trip with a badge.
Don’t leave having a good time on St. Patrick’s Day up to luck. Head to Chicago and enjoy the city’s extensive festivities the weekend before the holiday. Watch one of the city’s many parades, hit up one or two (or more) Irish pubs on a bar crawl, and be sure to catch the famous Chicago River dyeing on the 14th – the bright green waterway might be pretty hard to miss.
It’s the reality TV crossover event of the century. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Taylor Frankie Paul is giving love another shot, handing out roses as The Bachelorette herself. Tune in for the season premiere on March 22 – this might actually be the most dramatic season yet.
If you still can’t get enough of Wicked, you can see Glinda’s bubble dress and other dazzling outfits in person at Oscar-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell’s new exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Science & Industry, now through Sept. 7.

Awards season is coming to a close with the Oscars on March 15. To celebrate, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles is hosting a bunch of screenings and events this month, including panels with the producers of the Best Picture noms, and more.

There’s still plenty of snow in Massachusetts, but let the Boston Ballet whisk you away to a midsummer fantasy land. From March 19 - 29, the company will put on The Dream, a one-act, ballet interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
