Continuing his tradition of insulting people no one else would think of insulting (like prisoners of war and Gold Star families), Donald Trump attacked civil rights icon John Lewis for being, according to Trump, an ineffective congressman. "Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results," Trump tweeted on Saturday morning. "All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!" These 11 responses to Trump's wholly unjust attack on Rep. Lewis show that people are continuing to be on the right side of history.

Needless to say, the characterization of one of the most well-known leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, a man who endured beatings by mobs and state troopers and who was arrested over 40 times and continued to fight despite it all, as being "all talk" prompted a massive response on social media; four hours after the president-elect's tweets, Lewis was the number one trending topic worldwide on Twitter, with over 360,000 posts being published about him.

Trump's comments came after an interview in which Lewis criticized the upcoming administration's validity. "I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president," he told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press. "I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton."

Here are 11 reactions that perfectly illustrate how Trump's comments on John Lewis are simply inaccurate and unfair.

1. Show Some Respect

California Sen. Kamala Harris couldn't be more correct here.

2. And This Timing...

This Trump gaffe would almost be funny if he weren't president-elect.

3. The Pictures Say It All

The man in those photos is definitely not "all talk." Considering that he was arrested (for the 45th time) as recently as 2013 for fighting on behalf of civil rights proves that he continues to be all about action, even to this day.

4. Too Familiar

Accurate.

5. Keeping His Word

Pretending not to have an issue with a president who rose to power with the help of dubious allies wouldn't be a John Lewis thing to do.

6. Trump's Wrong About This, Too

While the crime rate in Lewis' district is higher than the national average, the region also has a lot to boast, including the highly educated population.

6. Pot Meet Kettle

As the cliché goes: Don't throw stones in glass houses.

7. This Has Got To Be The Explanation

Not knowing anything about John Lewis would be sad(!) for multiple reasons, but there's no way Trump would have gone after him if he'd been aware of who Lewis is, right? Right??

8. No Lies

When he was initially asked about David Duke's endorsement, Trump's response was, "Just so you understand, I don't know anything about David Duke, OK?" It took public outcry denouncing his unwillingness to give a firm answer in order for the president-elect to issue a firm disavowal.

9. In Bad Company

The people Trump seems to enjoy grouping himself with couldn't be more telling.

10. Enough Of That "All Talk" Stuff

Trump must feel really embarrassed right now.

11. Basically

That's all there is to say.

It should be interesting to see how the Trump team responds to this latest mess. But one thing is clear: People generally seem to be on the right side of history on this one, and it's no secret that Trump has no clue what he's talking about.
