While you’re probably focussing on the red carpet, where you'll get to see guests' ensembles in all their opulent glory, you shouldn't forget about the cocktail hour. You might be wondering how to watch the 2017 Met Gala cocktail party, as this is likely where all of the action is.
There's no event quite like the Met Gala. The most glamorous garments, your favorite celebrities, and fashion's elite come together for one evening a year to celebrate the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute’s spring 2017 exhibition. Plus, there's always a wonderful theme for the event — and who doesn't like a couture costume party?
But, the cocktail party is bound to be a chance for stars to unwind after the red carpet. Think of it like this: Celebs arrive to the gala and are met with the red carpet and a sea of paparazzi, after all that posing they're sure to feel ready to unwind and let loose. According to Teen Vogue, after the 2017 Met Gala red carpet and a walk through the exhibit, "...cocktails, dinner, and dancing are held in the Temple of Dendur, within the museum walls." Watching your fave celebs and fashion insiders chill in such lavish surrounding is bound to make for some amazing viewing.
So how can you watch the 2017 Met Gala cocktail party — or, more importantly, can you watch it?
Well, you might already know that Vogue’s Facebook Live coverage of the Met Gala red carpet is kicking off at 7 p.m. EST on Vogue's Facebook page on the eve of May 1. However, this only covers the red carpet and lasts for just hour. This is rad news as viewers get to check out the red carpet in 360 degrees as the guests arrive, but sadly, it doesn't last the whole evening.
But, never fear, photo service Shutterstock will be your insider eyes for the evening. In their press release from Apr. 6, Shutterstock states, "In collaboration with Condé Nast and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, photography of the full 2017 Met Gala evening will only be available for license through Shutterstock. Comprehensive photography coverage begins that evening with the much-anticipated red carpet and follows with inside looks at the Gala for receiving line, cocktails, entertainment, all the way through end-of-night departures. With start-to-finish access, Shutterstock will be the only photography source to deliver timely content throughout the night to publishers, agencies, and brands around the world." Not only will you be able to get a glimpse of the events occurring at the cocktail party, but if you sign up to Shutterstock, you'll be able to observe the entire night's festivities.
There's also an option for those who don't want to sign up to Shutterstock and the answer lies in the company's social media accounts. Ben Pfeifer writes on the Shutterstock blog, "You can also follow @ShutterstockNow on Twitter and Instagram to see what’s happening at the event." Thus, you can follow along on social media instead.
So if you want to watch the events of the whole Met Gala 2017 unfold, get your smartphone, tablet, or laptop at the ready and prepare yourself for an unforgettable evening!
