It finally happened. The moment we never thought would come: Khloé Kardashian finally announced her pregnancy. But she left fans yet another clue: a conspicuous ring has fans wondering if she might have other news — but it's unlikely Khloé Kardashian is married... yet.
On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Kardashian finally confirmed her pregnancy on Instagram with boyfriend Tristan Thompson, a basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kardashian and Thompson have been dating since August 2016, where they were spotted together in Los Angeles.
Since then, the two have become very serious — with Kardashian going back and forth between Los Angeles and Cleveland to see Thompson. And they even spent last Christmas together. Rumors started to circulate that the pair might be expecting around August/September of 2017 — about a year after the pair began dating.
However, even before the pregnancy rumors began, the engagement rumors had already started. In March 2017, Kardashian was seen rockin' an enormous ring on that finger while supporting Thompson courtside at a Cavaliers vs. Clippers game. In the summer, Thompson threw Kardashian a huge surprise party for her 33rd birthday where it was rumored that the basketball player got down on one knee and proposed to the Revenge Body star. That was later refuted, but with so many engagement rumors swirling around for so long, it's hard not to hope for a kernel of truth in the rumors for the couple.
Much of that hope is in part to the obvious affection that they share for one another. Kardashian is always in Cleveland supporting Thompson and attends many, many of his games. On the 26-year-old Thompson, Kardashian says, "I’m in the best relationship I’ve ever been in and it doesn’t take a ring for me to feel that way." While it might not take a ring, one certainly doesn't hurt right? And it's clear that Thompson is just as smitten with Kardashian as she is with him. On his Instagram in June, Thompson wished his beloved a very happy birthday with a sweet set of pictures of the pair.
So in Kardashian's pregnancy announcement, after a hearty celebration of finally knowing that Kardashian's pregnancy is true, fans began searching the picture of the two for other hints.
Did Calvin Klein sponsor the announcement? How far along might Kardashian be (especially because of those Christmas cards)? But fans zoomed in onto Kardashian's ring finger, where a sizable ring is taking residence. After the pregnancy rumors being true, could the engagement rumors be true as well? And if we're taking the next leap here, since Kardashian and Thompson have been rumored to be engaged since March of 2017, why wouldn't they have just gone for it by now? Don't worry, fans are FREAKING out.
Khloé Kardashian is a smart cookie, and she had to know that people might question her status after posting this announcement with a ring nestled on that finger. While we have no confirmation just yet whether or not Kardashian is married to Thompson, there's no doubt that it's not a strong possibility. (Bustle has reached out to her rep for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.)
After a rocky marriage to Lamar Odom from 2009-2015 (their divorce was finalized in 2016), it's easy to imagine that Kardashian could have some hesitations about tying the knot again. But it seems that she's certainly found her match in Thompson and has kept pretty positive feelings about getting married in the future. "I believe in marriage and I want to be married again one day but I don't have a time frame. Why do people think that marriage equates to happiness? There are a lot of people in unhealthy marriages," Kardashian told YOU magazine.
While we won't know for sure about Kardashian and Thompson's marital status, what's most important is that Kardashian is happy and healthy, and she most certainly seems to be both of those things.
