Starbucks' New Cold Brew Is Perfect For Spring

Starbucks is rolling out a new spring drink that's going to seriously take you away to a sandy, warmer place. One sip and you're on a beach, you can smell the salt water in the air, hear the crash of the waves in the near distance and the faint sound of people around you laughing and enjoying the slower vacation life. Open your eyes, you're in your office again and your email is piling up, you have five meetings back-to-back and don't think you'll have time to eat lunch, let alone make it out in time for yoga. Another sip and you're back in that happy place, fanning yourself in a lounge chair, drinking straight out of a coconut, feeling totally carefree and namaste with your phone on airplane mode and your responsibilities out of sight. Yes, that's right, Starbucks' new Toasted Coconut Cold Brew is going to evoke some real and intense spring break vibes.

Considering its coconut theme, it's probably the best way to streamline island vibes into your office life. Inspired by a popular Dominican Republic Candy, called jalao, this special toasted coconut blend is fine-tuned for authenticity. The base of the drink is Starbucks' epic Nariño 70 Cold Brew. Then, a few pumps of their new, lightly sweetened coconut syrup are added, followed by a coconut milk float on top. It's a little bit sweet, a little bit rich, and a lot a bit refreshing — and incase you were wondering, yes, it's very Instagrammable.

Cold brew will wake you up fast and help keep you alert and focused at work — while you dream about being away on spring break, of course. The coffee beans are steeped in cold water for 20 hours, without ever coming into contact with heat, making the flavor profile much different than hot coffee — it's smoother and slightly sweeter. And the marbled coconut milk rounds out the taste of this drink, making it a complex and gourmet treat.

But just like spring break, this drink is not around forever. Starting Tues. Apr. 4, and available for a limited time while supplies last, the Toasted Coconut Cold Brew is only making a cameo on the drink list, so make sure you take advantage of it while it's here. And while winter weather lags on for many on the East Coast, we can all use every ounce of spring vibes we can get — even if that means drinking a cold brew in our winter coats while day dreaming about warm weather and sunshine.
