Oh, what a strange 24 hours it's been. It feels impossible these days to step away from the computer for a few hours and not come back to some huge breaking news, but alas, that's our reality now. Tuesday night and Wednesday morning brought tears (that Obama speech) and jeers (those Trump allegations) alike, and as the month goes on, things are likely only gonna get crazier.

Donald Trump + Golden Showers

Where to even start? As you undoubtedly heard by now, Buzzfeed published an unverified report on Tuesday which alleged that Trump is being blackmailed by Russia, in part because they have video of the president-elect paying prostitutes for "golden showers." As you'd expect, Trump has denied the accusations, while his critics have had plenty of fun making as many pee-related jokes as possible. Yes, this is really happening.

Press Conference Recap: At his long-awaited news conference on Wednesday, Trump discussed the Russian blackmail report, calling out "fake news" outlets like CNN and saying he's too much of a germaphobe to have participated in the alleged activities. It was quite the morning.

President Obama + Farewell

What a speech that was, you guys. ICYMI, Tuesday night saw President Obama's farewell address, an hour-long speech in which the outgoing commander-in-chief discussed his legacy, his hopes for the future, and (*sniffles*) his love for wife Michelle. It was a powerful and moving finale, and Malia Obama was certainly not the only one crying. As for why Sasha wasn't there? Turns out that even being the president's daughter can't get you out of a test.

New (potential) celeb couple alert! New photos released by TMZ have everyone thinking that Selena Gomez and The Weeknd might be dating. Wedding Bells: Congrats are in order for Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons! According to Page Six, the Fargo co-stars are engaged. Fingers crossed that Jason Street shows up at the wedding to be his buddy Landry's best man.

Game of Thrones + A New Book, Finally

For fans of the Game of Thrones book series, waiting for the release of George R.R. Martin's newest book has been torture. Yet perhaps we won't have to wait much longer, as Martin wrote in a blog post this week that he thinks Winds of Winter will come out sometime in 2017. That's no guarantee it'll happen, of course — we all know that Martin isn't the best at sticking to release dates — but here's hoping.
